A grade four female student of the Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary School was hit by a blue jeep on Thursday afternoon while she was attempting to cross the road.
The incident occurred in front of the KM2 Solutions building at around 2: 50 p.m.
Reports are that the child allegedly ran across the road which caused the vehicle to collide with her.
An eyewitness told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that the student was bleeding from her mouth and nose.
Reports are that the school’s principal took the child back to the school but the vehicle remained in the same position until the police arrived. The driver was asked to make a statement at the school.
He was not speeding at the time of the accident, according to reports.
“The little girl who got struck was asking her friend to use the pedestrian crossing to return to school. But her friend told her no, and as soon as they attempted to cross, she ran into the vehicle,” the eyewitness said.
SNO was unable to reach the principal for a comment.
