A number of persons were seriously injured Monday after the vehicle in which they were travelling ran off the road at Fond Coolie, Belle Vue.
A senior fire official confirmed with St. Lucia News Online (SNO) on Tuesday that the vehicle – a blue Nissan Frontier – had 13 people on board, at the time of the accident.
The Micoud Fire Station received a report of the accident around 4:54 p.m. and responded soon after.
While the official noted that there were no fatalities recorded, he said a majority of the 13 people were taken to hospital for treatment for various injuries.
Preliminary reports indicate that the driver of the vehicle lost control and skid off the main road, which caused him to go downhill. The vehicle then landed on its back in a close by river.
Investigations into this recent accident are ongoing.
