An unknown force, as some have described it, or mysterious animal is terrorizing a Monchy farmer’s livestock, tearing parts from the animals, but not eating them.
John Cherubin told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) today, (Jan. 4) that he lost four goats on December 30, 2015, something that occurred around the same time in 2013.
Cherubin said the leg of one of the animals had been severed, while four other animals have gone missing and the others blood was sucked out of them.
A livestock farmer for several years, Cherubin, told SNO that he doesn’t want to believe that it is some “evil force”, but he remembered this happening to his father’s cattle, when he was a young lad.
The Monchy resident said he has no reason to believe that dogs took the animals, because he had reinforced his fence and ensured that nothing could enter.
Cherubin said he loves farming and despite these incidents, he wants to continue doing what he does best, as it is his only means of income.
He estimates his losses to be over $2,500.
