An middle-aged man was fatally struck by a four-wheel driver in Blanchard, Desruisseaux on Thursday at his home.
The 62-year-old man identified as George Willie, alias “Fwere George” was hit while while sitting at his home around 4:35 p.m, police officials have confirmed.
Willie sustained serious injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene by a medical doctor.
The pickup truck registration number PD 809 was being driven by Eldon Wilson of Anse-Ger, Micoud, when the incident occurred.
Wilson was travelling in a westerly direction when his vehicle ran- off the road, crashing into Willie’s home and injuring him in the process.
“My father was sitting on his steps at his home (a popular place to sit once the sun goes down), well away from the main road. The vehicle hit him right at his home. He was not a pedestrian!” his daughter said.
The driver and three passengers in his vehicle sustained injuries and were transported to St. Jude Hospital.
