Police are searching for a driver who crashed into two vehicles Tuesday afternoon at La Croix.
Reports are that the unidentified man, who was travelling in a dark green van with a small child, about one-year-old, attempted to drive through a narrow space and crashed.
The incident is reported to have occurred around 4:30 p.m.
An eyewitness told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that the driver was heading towards Castries, when he approached a truck parked on the side of the road and an incoming vehicle on the other lane.
Instead of pulling over to the side, and allowing the other vehicle to pass, the man tried to maneuver his way through both vehicles and crashed, hurting himself and the infant that was in his company.
The eyewitness said upon realizing what had happened, the driver, who seems unlicensed, picked up the infant and started running. He was noticed limping and the infant was crying.
Reports are that he stopped a block away and asked for assistance. The ambulance service arrived and took the infant to the hospital. But when the police turned up at the accident scene, he had already fled.
