The man’s body at the scene.
Police are investigating the death of a man in Fond Assau, Babonneau Sunday evening, according to a senior police official.
Inspector Terry Bradley of the Babonneau Police Station told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) that police received the report at about 7:25 p.m. and proceeded to the scene.
However, on their way to the scene, Bradley said the officers met an ambulance transporting the body to Victoria Hospital.
Bradley said he is unable to say what is the suspected cause of death at this time, as officers are still carrying out preliminary investigations at the scene and at Victoria Hospital.
The inspector said based on information received so far, a neighbour discovered the man at his residence at about 6:30 p.m. He showed signs of life, and as a result, the neighbour called the ambulance, Bradley said.
However, a resident of Fond Assau told SNO that the dead man, Stanislas Justin aka Shat, is suspected of ingesting a poisonous substance.
He said Justin is in his 40’s and is originally from Millet.
The resident added that Justin’s sister also left with the ambulance.
