An 8-year-old Saint Lucian lad who was injured in a vehicle accident in Guyana is likely to return home this week, once he is released from hospital.
Nick Josh Omari Joseph who is currently a patient at the Georgetown Public Hospital in Guyana, was visited by the President of Guyana David Granger on Saturday.
During that visit, the Guyanese president was given an update on the child’s condition by neurosurgeon, Dr. Amarnauth Dukhi.
Joseph’s mother Delia Finistere, was at his bedside during the visit, the Guyana Government Information Agency (GINA) reported.
Dr. Dukhi said he has already made contact with a neurosurgeon here who is going to be following up on the child’s case. The doctor said the cub scout has made a fair recovery and they are continuing to monitor him closely.
Joseph and another scout, Darnell Ajani Matthew, were injured in an accident on Woolford Avenue, Georgetown on July 26, during the Caribbean Cuboree, which was being hosted in Guyana.
Matthew was treated and released and has since returned to St. Lucia but Joseph on the other hand suffered head injuries and was admitted to hospital.
