The search for a teenage boy who is suspected to have drowned near Rat Island, pushed into a sixth day on Wednesday, with no clues to the location of his body.
Darran James, 17, of La Clery, Castries has been missing since June 30, when he decided to swim to Rat Island to join two of his friends who were already on the island.
Marine Unit Superintendent, John Preville, told St. Lucia News Online (SNO) on Wednesday that several searches have been conducted ever since the youth has gone missing.
Preville said private individuals, relatives and other persons have joined the Marine Unit in helping to locate him, but they have all come up empty handed.
Reports indicate that while swimming, James reportedly encountered difficulties and cried out for help to a tourist couple who were on a kayak close to him. However, it is alleged that the couple continued on their excursion. It is reported that within seconds of his ignored cries for help, he submerged.
This is not the first suspected drowning in that area.
